Colin Cowherd: 'Humiliated' Steelers Need Higher Standards Than Mike Tomlin

Dallas Cowboys v Pittsburgh Steelers

Colin Cowherd: “The Steelers offense this morning should be humiliated and should be completely embarrassed. Their defense picked off a couple balls, blocks a kick, three times the Cowboys are in the red zone and get no points, Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence are out, you’re at home, the Cowboys are reeling – it's perfect... And the 1977 Pittsburgh offense engineered 97 yards, atrocious on third-down, and four yards a play against a Dallas team without their top two defenders.
Pittsburgh’s offense line – SHOCKER – it stinks, for YEARS. The only happy Steeler should be Russell Wilson because at least he’ll eventually get to play. Pittsburgh’s offense is the flip phone of the league. What do they do well? It looks outdated. Since Terry Bradshaw retired in 1983, they’ve had 25 different quarterbacks and only one has been exceptional – Big Ben. This was not about the Cowboys’ excellence – they handed the game to Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh's strengths are actually their weakness. Their strength is they’re ‘tough’ and they’re ‘physical’. Their weakness is that they rely on that too often. How about ‘smart’, ‘thoughtful’, ‘clever’ on offense? Once again the Steelers lead the NFL in defensive spending in 2024, and once again they’re last in offensive spending. Sometimes I believe they think they can rub dirt on it and it will be better. That’s the culture.
Mike Tomlin is great at the podium and he’s got trophies, but cultures change and move. The Steelers offensive coordinator, Arthur Smith, four or five years ago made Ryan Tannehill a Pro Bowler in the AFC. It’s NOT the OC, it’s the culture, and it’s drawing plays up in the dirt is what it looks like. THAT was embarrassing. The Steelers defense always does its job, and rarely embarrasses themself. What a MESS. And Stop telling me Tomlin has never had a losing season. RAISE YOUR STANDARDS!
That was an atrocious loss handed to you and you wouldn’t take it.”

Listen to Colin Cowherd of FS1’s The Herd rip the ‘embarrassing’ Pittsburgh Steelers for their 20-17 Sunday Night Football loss to the Dallas Cowboys, as Colin calls out Mike Tomlin for overseeing the league’s most inept offense.

Check out the segment above as Colin says the Steelers’ perpetual offensive woes lies in the ‘culture’ in the building, one that Colin says has made Tomlin’s strengths as a head coach completely antiquated and obsolete in today’s game.
