Why James Harden Would Be an Absolute Disaster on the Brooklyn Nets

Doug Gottlieb: “On paper you have three STAR players. I soooo want it to happen because it feels so much like it won’t work… James Harden likes to pass, he likes to score, he’s a great player, but he doesn’t play any defense, and Kyrie doesn’t play any defense either. Between the egos, the lack of strong presence of a head coach, a franchise that hasn’t won anything in almost two decades, and Mike D’Antoni is on staff – it’s not like they’re preaching and teaching defense to anybody who is going to ‘convert’ Kyrie and James Harden. They ALL need the ball to be successful, and unless in the new 72-game season they’re going to play with three basketballs, it feels like sharing might be caring, and they might not care. This feels like the worst good idea of all time… I had a friend who once said ‘I like ice cream, and I like spaghetti, but you know what doesn’t go together? Ice cream and spaghetti.’ I like Kyrie Irving, I like James Harden, and I like Kevin Durant, but I don’t like them together at the same time. This feels like such a beautiful disaster. You may say it ‘worked in Oklahoma City and they almost won an NBA Finals', but that was before they had MVPs, egos, hundreds of millions of dollars in their bank account, and before they’d become superstars and had others fall by their wayside. This would be a beautiful disaster like the Titanic.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Doug Gottlieb explain why he thinks the Brooklyn Nets would sink like the Titanic if they actually went through with trading for James Harden from the Houston Rockets to team up with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
