Doug Gottlieb: JJ Redick is Alienating the Lakers Letting Bronny James Play

Doug Gottlieb: “Bronny James played in the last four minutes of their last game and here’s where it’s a little bit at issue. I don’t know the inner workings of the Lakers with this group, but I can tell you I’m a human being, I’ve been on teams, I’ve also been a coach’s son, and my brother has coached on a team where you had multiple coach’s sons... I know that Bronny James is not J.J. Redick’s son, but LeBron James is a de-facto assistant coach, or maybe even the co-head coach, and you’re playing Bronny James when clearly he isn’t an NBA player. He should be in the G-League and he’s not. He’s going to the G-League and you keep throwing him in there.
They swung and missed on Maxwell Lewis, they swung and missed on Jalen Hood-Schifino, but they’re way ahead of Bronny James. It’s one thing to take my minutes [D’Angelo Russell] and give them to Gabe Vincent, who started on a team who went to the NBA Finals, and it’s a whole nother thing to give it to Bronny James, who does not belong on an NBA team. It’s not just me saying that, I’m telling you how all the NBA players I’ve talked to, and all the NBA coaches I’ve talked to view it. That’s where you run into trouble. It’s not what’s in JJ is doing. What JJ is doing with D’Angelo Russell – like, he’s let them down in the playoffs the past couple years. I had no idea what they re-signed him. But playing Bronny instead of him – now you’re contradicting yourself. You’re saying you’re ‘playing to win’, ‘doing the right things’, and then you’re going to go with Bronny James, who’s just not an NBA player at this point.”

Listen to Doug Gottlieb of Fox Sports Radio’s The Doug Gottlieb Show explain why J.J. Redick is going to continue alienating D’Angelo Russell and the rest of the Lakers if he keeps letting Bronny James leech the minutes of real NBA players.

Check out the segment above as Gottlieb details why it’s already appearing like LeBron James is the co-head coach of the Lakers.
