Brady Quinn Compares Deshaun Watson to a 'Trust-Fund Baby'

Lavar Arrington: “Does Deshaun Watson wanna play?? I guess he can’t say he doesn’t want to play because then they’d probably be able to go after his money, but does he wanna play?? // He’s basically the one reporting on his health to the media which I find peculiar. // He has maybe single-handedly ruined the opportunity of any other player EVER, EVER, EVER getting a guaranteed contract. // I don’t think he wants to play anymore. I think we’ve seen the last of Deshaun Watson. And he’s going to play, he’s going to stay on the roster... What I’m saying is you’re not going to see an elite-level caliber quarterback ever again out of him. I just don’t see it.”

Brady Quinn: “As long as he just eeks this thing out for the next five years... If he plays bad enough, they can cut him—they still owe him $230 million. // It’s kind of similar thing to this... You get a kid who gets a trust-fund, $230 million. He’s like ‘HEY, YOU WANT TO GO OUT AND GET A JOB?’, he’s like ‘Not really. Nope, I’ve got $230 million coming, I’m good.’ That’s what it kind of feels like. It’s human nature... If you won the lotto and you end up netting $230 million, you’d probably be like ‘yeahhh, I’m good. I’m probably not gonna do this anymore.’ The trust-fund baby is just chilling. // I was talking to folks before the season and they were trying to convince me he’s a top 5 quarterback. I was like ‘top 5 when??’ At what point did you think he was? Was it the 4-12 season when he put up great stats, a lot of that in garbage time?... Was THAT the year you saw that? I don’t know that he had ever at any point in time during his career been a top 5 quarterback. But that was their tagline - ‘TOP 5 QUARTERBACK! TOP 5 QUARTERBACK!’ He’s not a top 5 quarterback, he’s never been a top 5 quarterback, so not sure where you get that from. Now you’ve incentivized him to NOT play because he’s just been paid. The whole situation is incredibly frustrating as a Browns fan. It’s incredibly frustrating as a former Browns player because they don’t need to do much more at the quarterback spot in order to make a run because their defense is so good. I know he was good in Houston, but I think you can contend 'was he really up there amongst the top?' [quarterbacks in the league] I don’t think it was ever the case. The year he led the league in yards, if you really dissect through some of that, a lot of that stuff came in blowout losses. On the season he’s basically getting paid a little over $500,000 per completion.”

Watch former NFL players and studio hosts Brady Quinn and LaVar Arrington on Fox Sports Radio’s ‘2 PROS & A CUP OF JOE’ with co-host Jonas Knox, discuss Deshaun Watson’s rapidly deteriorating playing career that has seen him go from one of the most talented quarterbacks in the NFL to perhaps the most comically overpaid athlete in history.

Watch the segment above as Quinn compares Watson to a ‘trust-fund baby’ with little desire to continue advancing his career, and details why Watson was never even that good in the first place. Arrington wonders if Watson's mysterious injury status as an idle player could put into question whether Watson legitimately wants to continue playing football as a starting QB, granted his $230 million guaranteed fortune awaits him as long as he doesn’t retire.
