"What does everybody want?"
A hero, and that's what wrestling legend Al Snow proved himself to be on Thursday (September 9).
TMZ reports the former WWE and ECW superstar was at Santa Rosa Beach in Destin, Florida when he jumped into the ocean and pulled a young boy from a riptide after hearing his cries for help while he was in the water.
Snow, 58, said he noticed the boy being hit by waves as he was pulled away by a rough current and knew the on duty lifeguard "wasn't going to make it in time," so he acted quickly.
"I made it, thank God," Snow said via TMZ. "And, I caught him just by the arm just as a wave started to pull him even further out. If I hadn't have grabbed him, I think he'd have probably went out to sea."
"That would have been it."
Snow said he thought of fellow wrestler Shad Gaspard -- who tragically died while saving his own son from a strong rip current in Venice Beach, California in May 2020 -- while battling the waters.
"I was able to stay up and hand him off to the lifeguard and I made my way back across to my friend and we went up on the beach and I felt like I was about to collapse. I was exhausted," Snow told TMZ.
Snow achieved his greatest success as a hardcore wrestler in the late 1990s for both then-WWF and WCW, famously carrying his mannequin head, known fittingly as "head" to the ring.
Snow was a former one-time European Champion, one-time tag team champion alongside Mankind (Mick Foley) and a six-time Hardcore Champion during his WWE tenure.
Snow was also the head trainer during the initial seasons WWE's MTV reality show Tough Enough and has since been working as a trainer, while also purchasing Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2018, before selling a majority interest in the company and since continuing to run the promotion's day-to-day operations.
